About the
Project
Sheikh/Impact (S/I) is a social sector consulting firm that supports nonprofit organizations working to serve and improve communities across sectors including justice system reform, healthcare, and arts advocacy. As the firm evolved and refined its focus on serving nonprofit clients, they needed a visual identity that reflected their unique, outside-the-box approach and a website platform that could grow with their team.
I worked directly with founder Amber Sheikh to refresh the visual identity and rebuild the organization's digital presence. The goal was to create a vibrant, distinctive brand that spoke to S/I's innovative team while establishing a sustainable web platform their staff could manage independently after our engagement concluded.

The
Process
Discovery & Visual Identity Refresh
I began by reviewing Sheikh/Impact's existing visual identity and conducting discovery sessions with founder Amber Sheikh to understand the organization's needs. A key insight emerged: S/I's visual identity needed to represent the current firm and its team, moving away from its previous identity.
Amber took a collaborative leadership approach—providing initial direction and feedback, then bringing the designs to her team for review and approval. This iterative process ensured the final identity resonated not just with leadership, but with the entire team who would be representing the brand.
The resulting visual identity is vibrant, unique, approachable, while maintaining professionalism.
I delivered a comprehensive brand kit including:
- Primary and secondary logos & icons
- Color palettes and typography guidelines
- Design templates
- Brand usage guidelines
Website Redesign & Platform Migration
Sheikh/Impact's previous website was built on GoDaddy, which presented limitations for both user experience and ongoing management. I conducted a thorough evaluation of their needs and walked the team through platform options, ultimately recommending Squarespace for its intuitive interface and ease of maintenance—critical factors for a small team without dedicated web developers.
I designed and developed the new website with a focus on clarity and accessibility, creating a user-friendly experience that clearly communicated S/I's services to nonprofit decision-makers. The site was built to be fully responsive, ensuring optimal functionality across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
I also managed the domain transfer process, coordinating with the team to ensure minimal downtime and a seamless transition from their previous platform.
The
Outcome
Brand & Website Launch
The refreshed brand and new website successfully positioned Sheikh/Impact as a distinctive voice in the social impact consulting space.
The vibrant visual identity differentiates S/I in a field often dominated by traditional corporate aesthetics, while the clean, professional website builds immediate credibility with nonprofit clients. By choosing Squarespace and providing comprehensive training, I ensured the S/I team could independently maintain and update their website after our engagement—a critical factor for long-term sustainability.
